So before I make a post about Miras surgery, I wanted to talk about her sleep study. She had a sleep study about a month prior to her surgery. It just gave us more information on her Laryngomalacia and congestion. The sleep study was from 7pm to 5am the next morning. I did go in knowing it wasn’t going to be the most pleasant experience but I really had no idea it would be as bad as it was. it started out ok, she was in good spirits. I waited to give her a bottle until we were putting the leads on, in hopes of it distracting her. Well it didn’t go that well. She did drink her bottle but in bet fighting the tech putting the leads on. Once we got them all on I was able to hold her and get her calm to put to sleep. Which she was sleeping but with how much she moves around, with every movement I would have to fix a lead. The tech would come on the intercom telling me to fix a lead. I think I had about five break downs. And said I want to leave a good hundred times. Just every time she moved a lead she would wake up crying. Eventually we just moved the crib out and I had to sleep with her on my chest. The entire night. I didn’t get much sleep, even when I tried I wasn’t able to keep my eyes closed. I think around 3am sometime I was able to sleep a little bit. But that 5am came up real quick. She told us it would take about 10 days to get our results but I’m pretty sure they called us the next day. it did result in some mild sleep apnea so the doctor wanted to proceed with surgery to help improve that. She did say a repeat sleep study would more then likely happen, which I’m not excited about but hopefully I can ask for a tech that is good with babies that aren’t tolerant of it. Photos below from the sleep study!
