I know this is a long time coming. Managing being a mom and a mom blogger has been pretty difficult. But slowly but surely I will get the hang of this and post here regularly.
Today I wanted to talk about Mirabellas first week home. It wasn’t very difficult since she had already been on a pretty easy schedule while in the NICU. Eating every 3 hours and taking about 2-3ozs. That’s crazy to think that’s all she was getting when now she gets anywhere from 6 to 7 ozs! Anyways, we took her home when she was 6 days old. it was the following Tuesday, January 14th. that ride home was totally fine until we pulled into our apartment complex. And I was suddenly so nervous. Although we had a had a secure area for the dogs to be so they wouldn‘t go crazy when we walked in. I still was so nervous for how they would act to her. we had gotten home around lunch time that day and Brandon had to go off to work once we were settled in. So I had kept the dogs locked in their area while he was gone. Of course I was still planning on keeping then separate for awhile but once Brandon got home he said okay let’s see how it goes and let them out. And I was completely blown away! not only did they not jump up but they were so calm and general around her. They just sat down and sniffed her. They even cuddled when we were sitting on the couch with her. It honestly just blown me away at how easy they handled it. It was just like, “oh okay, its a tiny mom and dad. cool.” Siloh not even 2 years old and Bruce just, well Bruce. I bad no idea how it was going to go but they have been so amazing. Siloh took to her RIGHT away. I mean from the start he was obsessed. He sits by her side and watches over her, gives kisses daily and the two just absolutely adore each other. The day after we brought her home was her first doctors appointment. It was a week after she was born. I believe she had gained a few ounces from her birth weight so a little over 5 pounds. We rechecked her bilirubin levels, jaundice, and was told we would get those results within a few hours. Since she was only a week still no shots but got a healthy report and would get a call later that afternoon about her jaundice. Her jaundice levels were still high so the doctor wanted to recheck again in a week. And if you read my post about. Her being in the NICU, we had to stop breastfeeding for 48 hours and get her levels rechecked about 4 times before it finally was okay. Her first week home went smooth otherwise. With her having an eating schedule already laid out for her, getting into the rhyme of things was pretty easy. She’s now a thriving little 10 month old and we can’t wait to see how much she grows!
